Those of you who know me well, know that I am not a big church goer, or religious type. I do have to admit that I do enjoy religious art, and am facinated with the time, effort, scale, and passion that often goes into those pieces. I can appreciate painting such as The Last Supper, and be in awe of the paintings that can be found at the Vatican. So I when I found a video of Noah painting a portrait of Jesus for a “Christ Live-Good Friday performance 2010″, I found it quite interesting on a couple of levels. One was just the fact of doing your work as almost a performance in from of a croud, and second was the thoughts of the artist painting. Noah stated that, “Painting Christ in front of a crowd has to be one of the most emotional and heavy moments. You think of all hewent through for us and how much he loves us. You think of the sacrifice God made by sending is ONLY son. It makes me think of how much I love my kids. It moves me every time. The bar is raised. However, it’s not me doing the painting. I just show up and I’m along for the ride. I hope you enjoy this. i plan to do it again and really do some interesting things with the size and presentation.”
It is an interesting look at another side of a man who is become more known for his work for Disney.
