I have always loved album art, especially the artwork that was on the vinyl that I used to buy as teen. Sometimes I would buy an album, just for the artwork. While today I have found with digital downloads, that album art has lost some of it’s impact due to it’s microscopic sizing in my iTunes player. So now I find that I seek out books today, like I used to seek out albums.
So when I found Heavy Metal Thunder by James Sherry and Neil Aldis, it was a no brainer.”Album covers. Remember them? Those 12×12 pieces of cardboard that held a vinyl record…ah, the good old days,” it was like the writers went to the same record store as me every Saturday.
I like getting books that I can read to inspire my work, when I hit a slump, and get inspired again. Heavy Metal Thunder was like going back to my teens. The book contains over 250 pages of metal album art. Some I know well such as the works of Derek Riggs, to bands like Abusu with cool cover art, that to this day I have never heard.
Either way as an airbrush artist, a book such as this is great book for referencing some great album art like Guns n’ Roses Appetite for Destruction by Robert William, the chrome Skull from LA Gun’s album LA Guns, and so many more.
Bottom line a great book to add to your bookcase.

There is obviously a lot to know about this. I think you built some great points in Functions also.
