True Colors by QuintessenzCreation is an up beat stop motion mural using an old technique with a new style. This animation spreads like a digital disease through out an abandoned building set to music by Pretty Lights. It took 4 months of hard labor to hand make this stop motion movie with over 5,000 pictures, no digital effects and artificial light.

What can I say I like Frank Kozik’s smoking Labbits. I have always enjoyed doing painting custom toys for people. What can I say toys are fun, so I naturally when there is a new animated short featuring the mOngers I have to watch, and share.

I love reading Maria Brophy’s blog. I always find use full information, and I am anxiously awaiting her new book on the Business of Art. Anyways in her latest blog post she posted this Youtube video that made me laugh, because I can honestly say this is at times how a conversation goes when someone approaches me about doing some custom work for them. It made me laugh…in a “I really hate when people do this” kinda way…

Thalys, the European company providing TGV trains between Paris, Bruxelles and Amsterdam, decided to customize one of the trains, inviting SozyOne (Bruxelles), Jonone (Paris), Zedz (Amsterdam) y Seak (Cologne). I wonder if Europe is just more progressive and accepting of this form of art? I know that my city a recent move to have urban artist paint the local skate park ended, whit headlines. I know that a lot of people think that there is only one way to do things, and can be an elitist about method. I have heard people say, “that’s not airbrushing”, when you start using other things in your work. In my case pencil crayons within some of my “airbrush” pieces. I have always been open to new techniques, but all too often, especially with water based automotive paints, you will hear people turn up their noses and waive the “euro” banner. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against urethane paints, it is the inability or unwillingness to experiment that baffles me. I think the day I stop looking at different ways to do things, I will stop progressing as a designer and an artist.
